    Purcell Construction is a General Contracting, Construction Management and Design-Build firm. Our corporate office is located in Watertown, NY with a regional office in Richmond, VA. We have a passion for building and have a broad range of project experience. We’ve completed public and private projects in housing, higher education, healthcare, and historical renovations. Over 30 years ago, Purcell pioneered the use of modular construction. We developed a particular expertise in using prefabricated light gauge structural systems. We have constructed millions of square feet of buildings using this technology. Today, we continue to evolve the way we build.

    Purcell Construction Corp. is seeking a preconstruction manager and construction estimator to join our New York Division.  Duties include plan and specification review; document control; quantity takeoffs; material pricing; soliciting subcontractors; scope review; attending and/or hosting pre-bid meetings/site visits; coordinating with Owners, Designers, and Project Management Staff; full bid/proposal preparation and submission.

    Responsibilities

    • In-depth understanding of building construction and its associated building assemblies.
    • An ability to accurately navigate and interpret project drawings and specifications.
    • Experience performing quantity takeoffs.
    • Ability to solicit potential bidders and garner interest in projects.
    • Build and maintain relationship with existing and new subcontractors and suppliers to grow our outreach.
    • Be conscientious about achieving deadlines and has an accurate work product.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in concise and timely manner.
    • Ability to assemble complete bid presentation that clearly communicates project requirements.
    • Ability to collaborate with all parties involving pricing and design elements; this includes in-depth communication with designers, owners, bidders/subcontractors, and project managers.
    • Skill in identifying, pricing, and tracking value engineering options for clients.
    • Coordination with Project Managers, Designers and Owners through preconstruction and procurement phase.

     

    Experience/Certifications

    • A 2-year degree in Construction related field is preferred.
    • Minimum of 5-years’ experience in Construction Industry with time spent in the role of bid preparation and submission.
    • Detail oriented, analytical, and organized.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.
    • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, Adobe, Project Management, Scheduling, and Estimating Software are desired. Use of Microsoft Excel is a must.
    • Experience with Procore is preferred.
    • Valid Driver’s License Required.

    Purcell is looking for a full-time Assistant Site Superintendent to work on projects in our New York markets. This individual will have the ability to coordinate teams, oversee subcontractors, and implement quality control. The ideal applicants should have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in commercial construction projects and the willingness to learn and collaborate with the superintendent on prime general contracts. Our goal is to deliver projects that exemplify high standards of quality and exceptional value while conforming to project design and specification criteria. This is an excellent starting management position with opportunity for an individual to further advance in the construction field.

    Essential Functions

    • Assist the on-site supervisor in all aspects of construction including, but not limited to, mobilizing, layout and scheduling of work, coordinating field labor resources, monitoring subcontractors and their work, and coordinating material suppliers ensuring timely deliveries.
    • Implement Contractor’s Quality Control Plan to ensure compliance with technical specifications, contract and quality requirements.
    • Participate in preconstruction meetings and initial inspections
    • Assist with time cards, toolbox talks, and equipment tracking onsite
    • Assist in the coordination of job meetings along with monitoring and enforcing safety compliance on the project. Ensure cleanliness and safety of project site at all times.
    • Schedule and/or coordinate all trade work and deliveries to the site.
    • Schedule and monitor subcontractor completion of all punch list work.
    • Ensure all required testing, inspections and occupancy permits are completed.
    • Ensure the project schedule is met and maintained
    • Prepare RFI’s for project manager review and submission
    • Prepare daily reports
    • Valid driver’s license required.

     

    Education and Experience

    • Construction knowledge to include a minimum of four (4) years of construction experience on commercial construction projects, or similar experience in a construction related degree program.
    • Proficient with computers including Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word and Excel. Experience with Procore, Adobe Acrobat/Bluebeam preferred.
    • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Must be able to work independently with limited supervision and manage multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines on a routine basis.
    • Must be detail-oriented, assertive, persuasive and results-oriented.
    • Must have willingness to learn, and ability to coordinate/collaborate with others.
    • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Training Course, preferred.
    • First Aid and CPR Training Courses, preferred.

    Purcell Construction is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to work under the direct supervision of Project Manager for projects in our New York markets. Work will include contract administration, daily reports, correspondence, quality control inspections, coordination of subcontractors, some estimating, and job supervision. This is an excellent starting management position with opportunity for an individual to further advance in the construction field.

    Responsibilities

    • Work directly with the Project Manager and Site Superintendent onsite to support in any administrative functions and document tracking for the project team.
    • Assist in soliciting subcontractors and suppliers for bids, review and negotiate proposals, and make recommendations for award to vendors and subcontractors.
    • Assist in administering the Quality Control Plan on Construction Projects.
    • Review and track submittals and other necessary documentation through the course of construction.
    • Prepare and participate in preconstruction meetings and initial inspections.
    • Assist in coordination and scheduling subcontractor’s work as required.
    • Prepare and distribute meeting minutes, track deficiencies, schedule inspections, and process RFI’s.
    • Maintain project As-Built drawings and document punch lists.
    • Tracking special project requirements, like labor force requirements, M/WBE, LEED, or NYSERDA compliance.
    • Interface with Project Manager, Project Owners, Designers, Superintendents, Subcontractors and Suppliers, and any others as part of the project team to meet the expectations of the Client and deliver a successful building project.

     

    Qualifications

    • A degree in Construction Management or related field; or a combination of equivalent training and experience.
    • Be experienced, organized and team-oriented.
    • Be knowledgeable in the construction industry and have an understanding of reading technical plans and specifications.
    • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills with all levels of employees, management and outside parties such as Owners, Architects, Engineers, subcontractors, suppliers and co-workers.
    • Be experienced with computers and various programs, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat/Bluebeam – and have the capacity to learn/adapt to other construction industry programs (BIM, scheduling, project management, and estimating software). Experience with Procore and Primavera P6 is preferred.

    Job Summary

    Purcell Construction is seeking a Construction Site Superintendent that will manage and coordinate all on-site activities during the construction phase of a project. This involves working closely with the Construction Project Manager, Owners Representatives, Subcontractors, Quality Control Manager and Safety Director. The scale of projects we undertake can range from $5 million to $120+ million. If you are a highly motivated individual, with a passion for building, we want to hear from you.

    Responsibilities

    • Serve as the overall on-site supervisor for all aspects of construction including, but not limited to, mobilizing, layout and scheduling of work, coordinating field labor resources, monitoring subcontractors and their work, and coordinating material suppliers ensuring timely deliveries.
    • Work in conjunction with the Contractor’s Quality Control Manager to ensure compliance with technical specifications, contract and quality requirements.
    • Responsibility for on-site production and scheduling of work to ensure project meets schedule.
    • Serve as the sole point of contact for the Project Manager on all matters related to on-site construction activities.
    • Coordination of all job meetings and responsibility for monitoring and enforcing safety compliance on the project. Ensure cleanliness and safety of project site at all times.
    • Deliver projects that exemplify high standards of quality and exceptional value while conforming to project design criteria and product specifications.
    • Schedule and/or coordinate all trade work and deliveries to the site.
    • Ensure construction is performed in accordance with quality standards, contract requirements and schedule.
    • Review and submit weekly time sheets for employees on site.
    • Schedule and monitor subcontractor completion of all punch list work.
    • Ensure all inspections and occupancy permits are completed.

     

    Requirements/Qualifications

    • Construction knowledge must include a minimum of ten (10) years of on-site supervisory construction experience on commercial construction projects ranging in size from $5 million to $50 million dollars.
    • Must be able to work within a team structure and be prepared to take a leadership role
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam
    • Must be able to read and interpret a construction project schedule and assist the Project Manager in updating the schedule regularly.
    • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Must be able to work independently with limited supervision and manage multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines on a routine basis.
    • Must be detailed, assertive, team-oriented, and results-driven.
    • Must maintain professionalism in all day to day interactions, particularly when interfacing with key project stakeholders, Owners, and designers.
    • Must have OSHA 30-Hour Construction Training Certification.
    • Must have First Aid and CPR Certification.
    • Valid driver’s license required.
